If you ever wondered regarding the locations of AWS data center, we are going to cover it up; right here, right now. It is said that AWS data center location is divided into:
- Regions
- Availability Zones
In a region, there can be more than one availability zones. Each such availability zones (AZs) can have one or more data centers. These AZs are independent to each other is what I came to know. Ofcourse independent doesn't mean they aren't interlinked. What it means is that each availability zones doesn't depend on the resources or power source of others such as power generator, power supply lines/providers, cooling system, etc. So, each AZs acts as independent infrastructure. However, they are connected with low latency network of Amazon. So, this makes AWS data center planning quite robust. No, doubt it is one of the most subscribed and looked after data center and cloud facility.
AWS data centers and cloud locations
Now, let's directly move into the main subject to be covered i.e. AWS cloud data center locations. AWS is a cloud services and Amazon has placed its data centers in various locations around the world so that people can strategically make use of it. It has 77 AZs of which we talked earlier. These AZs are spread across following countries and cities:
- China: Beijing, Hong Kong
- India: Mumbai
- Japan: Ningxia, Osaka
- South Korea: Seoul
- Singapore
- Australia: Sydney
- Bahrain
- South Africa: Cape Town
- Germany: Frankfurt
- Ireland
- UK: London
- Italy: Milan
- France: Paris
- Sweden: Stockholm
- Canada
- USA: Ohio, Oregon, California
- Brazil: Sao Paulo
In USA, there are few other locations apart from what I covered above. USA does host data centers specifically reserved for federal government's use. Since, it requires tight security and stringent compliance requirements, AWS have separate federal data centers in some location of USA. That's all I have to share today. This general overview on AWS data center locations should help you. For more details, you can search into the internet.
